Written for Composers Concordance
Premiered at Gallery MC, New York City, October 15, 2015, CompCord Chorus
Hey Yud Yud – Parallel Universes is inspired by the art of German painter Rainer Gross and his series, “The 72 Names of God”, based on an ancient Jewish mystical text. Each of the names is kind of self-help guide depicted by three Hebrew letters, thus the title “Hey Yud Yud”. In recent translation, it’s a meditation on letting go of negative actions, gaining heightened consciousness and entering new and fulfilling worlds. It can be a companion piece to Mem Hey Shin.
