Dance to Unknowing – a Klezmer Prelude, for two violins, bass trombone, piano, bass and drum, 4’ (2016)

Written for Composers Concordance.
Premiered at the Goddard Riverside Bernie Wohl Center, New York, NY on March 23, 2016.

I wrote Dance to Unknowing for a concert presented by Composers Concordance entitled “All About Purim”. The holiday of Purim is an ecstatic celebration of how Mordechai saved the Jews from obliteration by the evil King Haman. In the ancient tradition, celebrants were obligated to drink until they didn’t know the difference between “cursed be Haman” and “blessed be Mordechai”. Why? – to incapacitate the intellect and free the passions of the heart from their internal regulation.
